A Willow Tree Will Make Your Lawn Truly Enchanting

Time and time again, it has been said that trees should be the first consideration in landscape planning. Trees give lawn owners great versatility in meeting their landscaping needs. Trees can cover empty areas which would otherwise seem dull. They can also provide color which will complement the general theme of the garden. Additionally, other plants which have to be protected from direct sunlight will greatly benefit from the shade provided by larger trees. And we also have to mention that trees have their way of inviting a cool breeze every afternoon without fail.

These, of course, should be considered in relation to the aesthetic merits of every kind of tree. You may enjoy all the benefits we have discussed above, but if the trees you have planted in your backyard are not as visually pleasant as people would expect, your lawn or garden will suffer - quite terribly at that.

For many horticulturists and landscape artists, the willow tree has always been a safe choice. What makes a willow tree an amazing option for many lawns and gardens are its deciduous leaves and catkins. Indeed, the leaves and flowers of this tree experiences shedding and regrowth cycles throughout each year. Its long, cylindrical but rounded catkins, for example, display their best blooms during the spring, and thereafter, would begin to shed, only to come to life come the months leading to the next spring season. Its leaves tell a similar tale that produces a different effect. Because the leaves shed, they often drag the branches to the ground, creating an enchanting feel for this tree type. The best example of this would be a subspecies of the tree, the Weeping Willow, known for the distinctive stance of its body which conjures some magical thoughts from anyone who gets to see the same.

The willow tree is known for many uses. A lot of people have found its bark to be rich with salicin, which is a chemical used for fever and body ache relief. In fact, history shows that Sumerians, Assyrians and Egyptians have been using the bark for this purpose as early as the 5th century BC. Some historical finds also indicate that native Americans have made good use of this medicinal alternative way before the English settlers discovered this continent.

But nowadays, the willow tree is known for its ornamental benefits. Once it graces any garden or any lawn, the area is immediately transformed into something truly enchanting for the senses.
